First off just wow!! Scarlet is the second installment of the Lunar Chronicles series and is loosely based off of the well know children’s fairytale Little Red Riding Hood. Reading this book right after Cinder I can honestly say it didn’t disappoint me in the least. Scarlet starts off exactly where Cinder left off and will follow Cinder and a new character that will be joining the characters in this series a young red head, feisty, brave, and independent girl named….You guessed it Scarlet Benoit.

Scarlet Benoit is such an amazing and complex character. She is such a strong young and is tough as nails this girl doesn’t need a savior she does fine saving herself! Scarlet is looking for her Grandmother who has went missing without a trace and the only person who may have some information on her grandmother’s whereabouts is a street fighter that goes by the name Wolf! This book will take you to France and to all of the secrets that Scarlet and Cinder are desperately looking for.

I loved how Marissa Meyer was able to smoothly take us from Cinder into the second book Scarlet. At the end of Cinder we got the plot twist of our life in this book it will answer some of the burning question we had in Cinder and all the while make us hang on the edge of our seat while doing. I cannot even begin to tell you how many times my jaw dropped while read this book!

Where do I begin? This book has been on my radar for a while now. I keep putting off and putting off reading this book. Finally I decided to go with my gut and give this book a try. I am so glad my gut has better instinct than my head does because this book was absolutely amazing. I have always loved the fairy-tales and Cinder brings a whole new twist to the fairy-tales you have heard or read about your whole life.

This story is place in the future and follows a cyborg girl (which basically means she who is a human who was given a second chance at life by adding robotic parts in her making her half machine and girl, I know cool right!) a known around Beijing as a distinguished mechanic. One day Cinder world is shaken when a customer comes to her booth with problems concerning his royal android, whom turns out to be none other than the gorgeous Prince Kai. This story is said my Marissa Meyer to be based on a future version of Cinderella. You will have the evil stepmother, the stepsisters, the handsomely independent Prince and a Plague?! Yes a plague that has been tearing apart the world for decades.

In this book I was hooked from page one. Cinder is a refreshing character who I feel completely invested in. She speaks her mind stands up for the people in her life that she cares for. This story brought to life this world that you can picture so clearly in your head. The writing is wonderfully done Marissa Meyer really out did herself with this first installment.

Each page you turn will help you stay hooked throughout the whole book and begging for more. There is adventure, romance, and kick butt fighting. Just when you think you know how the story goes BOOM plot twist!

If you haven’t read this book you need it in your life ASAP because you have been missing out!!!
